SAUT Writng Competition III 2018

SAUT WRITING COMPETITION III 2018
Hosted by the SAUT Multi-Disciplinary Journal of Education and the Dean of the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Department of Languages & Linguistics and the SAUT English Club, the 3 rd SAUT Writing Competition invites students to submit their creative writing. As in the previous two years, we ask for short stories and poetry in English. This year we are adding a new segment with children’s stories in Kiswahili. This segment is initiated in collaboration with UHIC (United Help for Int’l Children) and its local director Kwiwoon Lee. We are also happy to collaborate with the KESHO Fund, which will consider supporting the publication of selected stories and/or poems from the first three years of the SWC.

CALL FOR CREATIVES in English:
SHORT STORY:
  • There is no limit of topics. 
  • Your submission must be original. 
  • It must be a story - please do not submit essays. 
  • It may contain up to 3500 words. 
POETRY:
  • Your submission must be original.
  •  Please submit one poem only. in Kiswahili: 
STORY FOR CHILDREN:
  • There is no limit of topics - imagine a story you would enjoy sharing with your younger siblings; target age is 9-13 years. 
  • Your submission must be original. 
  • It must contain at least 7000 words.
SUBMIT by 30 September 2018 via e-mail to journalofeducation@saut.ac.tz

Please name the submitted file appropriately:
AUTHOR’S NAME_POEM/SHORT STORY_TITLE Example: Heister_Short Story_Mind the Gap.doc or Heister_Poem_Every Other Sunday.doc
The SWC Jury will evaluate all submissions. The best short stories and poems will be considered for inclusion in the 3 rd issue of the SAUT Multi-Disciplinary Journal of Education.

The best children’s stories in Kiswahili will be considered for publication in collaboration with UHIC. We plan to have a Public Reading on the first weekend of December, followed by an Award Ceremony during Community Day on 5 December 2018.
