Police in Ghana have apprehended a pastor after a 20-year-old man has drowned in a river while being baptised by the pastor.
The incident occurred on Sunday when Yaw Kyeremeh was immersed for the second time by the pastor and failed to emerge from River Densu.
Accra Regional Police Command spokeswoman Afia Tenge briefing about a video circulating on social media showing the incident said a junior pastor had been arrested at the scene while police were still searching for the head pastor of the church involved in the baptism.
According to Ghanaian media, family of the victim said it doesn’t blame anyone for the death.
Police said the 20-year-old's body was in a mortuary, and an autopsy still needed to be done before it was given to the family for burial.
