6 Things Don't Include In Job Cover Letter

6 Things Don't Include In Job Cover Letter

6 Things Don't Include In Job Cover Letter, Job Cover letter, Best Letter, Barua Za Kazi, Ajira Mpya Barua Sample
Today msesetz.com, we are going to look at some of the Don’ts of a cover letter. These are things you should avoid when you are preparing or writing a cover letter. Including them in your cover letter will reduce the chances of being called for an interview.

1. One cover letter for every position

There is a very common practice of sending out the same cover letter for similar positions. Don’t do this. A generic cover letter will read like something that fits everywhere but doesn’t perfectly fit the position you are applying for. A generic cover letter is boring and it will not attract the interest of the reader. Remember, your cover letter should address the job requirements. Take the time to craft each of your cover letter. Even if you would like to use an old cover letter, update it accordingly with the requirements of the position you are applying for.

2. Making your cover letter way too long

As per conventions, a good cover letter shouldn’t be more than one A4 page. It should be short and concise. You might get away with a cover letter that is one and a half page. But remember, your cover letter needs to be short. This is because no one has time to read pages and pages of what you have written. Recruiters and hiring managers need to go through many applications. Long cover letters are not something they are keen on reading. How to achieve a short cover letter? Well, write the initial draft and trim it down until you have a short and clear cover letter. Those long sentences are something you should look at because they might confuse someone reading them. Communicate your strengths with short sentences.

3. Errors

It goes without saying that your cover letter just like your CV needs to be free of any grammatical mistakes.  No one likes calling a candidate with typos and spelling mistakes to an interview. Use different online platforms that can check the grammar for you. It is not a bad idea to let your cover letter sleep for a few days before checking it again. You will be surprised at how many mistakes your sharp eyes can pick. Before sending your applications, have someone check it for you to make sure you haven’t missed anything.

4. Writing a cover letter five minutes

How long does it take you to write an impeccable cover letter? If it is five minutes then you need to read this. There is no serious cover letter that you can write in the shortest time, send it and expect a positive result. You need to spend time crafting it, writing those sentences, deleting them, writing them again until the whole thing looks professional enough. And here you haven’t even factored in the time to edit and proofread. When you are trying to impress someone, you take time to prepare yourself. Do the same for your cover letter. In fact, you need to be very cognizant with many factors like your mood when writing it, the level of noise, and the environment. All these can affect how well you can produce an attractive letter. Your cover letter needs all the right elements to be perfect.

5. Not answering the Job Advert

The cover letter is a response to the job advert. Look at your cover letter and ask yourself if it answers the job advert. If it doesn’t, write one that does. At BrighterMonday, we see a lot of applicants writing generic cover letters that say they have teamwork skills, creativity, going the extra mile, etc., even when those things are not asked in the job advert. Even though they are good skills to have, you shouldn’t just add them because you feel like adding them. Look at the skills that the employer is looking for and answer those. It might not be teamwork but analytical skills. Instead of wasting the space talking about the former you can expound the latter.

There are times when you might apply for a position that you like but you don’t have the education to back it up. For example, you have finished college with a degree in finance. You like writing and you have seen an internship advert looking for writers. Instead of talking about accounting, talk about that time you edited the school paper, or that collection of poems you have, or that blog that you are managing. Jump right in and talk about your writing passion instead of spending time elaborating your finance skills.

6. Lack of evidence in your achievements

Imagine a job asking for someone with writing experience and you write something like, “I believe this is a good position for me because I like writing,” or when a position needs someone with analytical skills and you say, “I have analytical skills.”

No one is going to take your application seriously because you are just regurgitating the job advert without substantiating your claims. It is easy to say you have analytical skills but it is hard to back it up. So, instead of just ending there, find examples that can vouch for what you are saying. For example, “I believe this is a good position for me because I have writing experience from producing content for a blog,” or “I have analytical skills from reading the Google Analytics performance reports and presenting solutions on how to improve poor performing metrics.”

Many people struggle to come up with achievements because they don’t remember them. They have been working for 4 years and when it comes the time to apply for a new job they don’t remember what they did well. So, cultivate a habit of documenting your achievements at work for future purposes.

It also coordinates the proper functioning of all university institutions in Tanzania so as to foster a harmonised higher education system in the country.

The Tanzania Commission for Universities succeeded the former Higher Education Accreditation Council (HEAC) which was established in 1995 under the Education Act 1995 with a legal mandate to regulate the establishment and subsequent accreditation of private university institutions in the country. Being limited only to private universities, such mandate was considered unfavourable for the promotion of a viable public-private partnership in higher education as stipulated in the National Higher Education Policy of 1999.

Therefore, such circumstances prompted the government to establish a harmonized higher education system in the country which led into the establishment of the Tanzania Commission for Universities. In order to ensure such a harmonious higher education system does not compromise institutional peculiarities and autonomy, each University has the legal right to operate under its own charter.

The mandates and core functions of the Commission are provided under section 5(1) of the Universities Act Cap. 346. These functions can be clustered into the following three major areas.

Yanga Timu Ya Wananchi, New Job Yanga, Job Opportunity At Young Africans Sports Club, Yanga Vs Zesco United Zambia
Young Africans Sports Club, also locally knows as "Timu ya Wananchi" which means The citizens' team, is a Tanzanian football club based in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. The club's home games are played at the National Stadium. It is the biggest historic and most successful football club in Tanzanian football history with a total of 27 league Titles. It is also the best football club in east and central Africa.

Subsequent to its establishment in 1935, its members squabbled over their team's poor performance and results. The club had an even poorer and unsatisfactory performance in 1936 that caused some of the members to split and form another team. The proponents of breaking away were Arabs who saw fit to cause conflict among the club members that led to a split. They succeeded and together with dissidents, formed a club known as Queens F.C. The name was later changed to Sunderland and then to Simba S.C. which is the club's current name.

The two teams, Young Africans S.C. (Yanga) and Simba S.C. have been rivals ever since. The teams makes up one of the most entertaining, eye-catching and talked about derbies in Africa. Young Africa has been very hopeless in the past 3 years since the billionaire who was the guarantor of the club, Mr. Yusuf Manji suffered a massive drop in wealth after being associated with illicit drugs trade whereby he was charged and later acquitted.

The team's colours are yellow, green similar to the colours of the Tanzania ruling party, CCM.

Campus is the place where most people transform their lives and it makes an impact on how your future is going to be. Its the place where you can decide to live a normal life, get a normal job then die a normal death. Most students spend half of their campus time doing coursework and the better half is spend in making fun, hanging out with friends, watching movies, listening to music, traveling and partying. With enough time at your disposal, here are some ways that you can use to make money while in campus.

1. Do Online Jobs
  • This is the fastest growing source of income to campus students. What you need is just a smart phone, a laptop or a desktop with internet connection. If you don’t have one, borrow a friend or use the university’s or college’s ICT/computer resource centers. For internet, use the your institutions’ free wifi! You can blog using wordpress or blogspot and with time you earn a living from it.
  • It only requires creativity, hard work, patience & consistency (most important of them all). blogging is also an option; this is video blogging. You only require a YouTube account or a facebook account and start posting your videos and at the end of billing period you get paid. like this guys wana Instagrams Accounts like University Celebrities (Udsm_celebreties, Udomfame, Morogoro_universities and other famous insta accounts, wanatumia kujiingizia kipato kwa kufanya ADVERTISEMENTS through their pages, 20,000Tshs per 4 posts in a week) .
  • Article writing, academic writing and technical/skill based jobs. This is currently the most popular in campus and most graduands continue writing after finishing campus as it really pays, i know of friends who’ve had to quit their jobs to concentrate on writing.
  • For this you only need an online account (from the likes of kuhustle/upwork/freelancer, etc) and start bidding for jobs or you can work for someone with an account and you get paid as much as 2000Tshs per page. Others include survey taking, where you survey on a given topic and you are paid.
  • Online marketing where you market products for a fee. Though, caution must be taken as with increased online working opportunities there is double increase in con men and women on social platforms on the prawl.
  • Always remember, in every successful deal money always comes last! Be warned of guys requesting for payments before giving you a job.(Also, You can google  about this business >>>FOREX TRADING, Learn and start make money!!!)

2. Talents Campus is a place to grow and nurture talents.

  • Most of the sports personalities and celebrities started in campus. If you are talented in music, spoken word, dancing, acting, public speaking, any kind of sport and doing comedy among others, then this is best place to showcase, nature your talent and get more greener pastures. With talent you have to keep going however how hard the circumstances may be. Determination, practice and consistency will lead you to success.
  • If you are talented in ball games then you are lucky, as the campus provides allowances for both training and competitions. But seek to be a professional, pays more than the small sums starting from as little as $2 per day for public institutions.

3. Business While in campus you can look for capital or even use part of HESLB Loan (not advisable) and start a good business.

  • Example of businesses that work well in campus are: printing from your school hostel – get a hostel with many occupants & easily accessible to a majority of the students, kinyozi, salon, mpesa shop, a retail shop, photography, videography, being a DJ/VDJ, fast food restaurant, gym and fitness center among others.

4. Part Time Employment

  • Since most of the time campus are free, one can decide to look for a part time job and negotiate with the management on how you will be working, you can work in restaurants and hotels till midnight, work on weekends and days that you are free. You can as well do marketing and sales as it will be more convenient with the high campus population.

5. Student-Work Program

  • Finally, you can also get work for your institution via what is called a student-work program. Here your institution assigns you to a department where you do minimal jobs (such as but not limited to filing, messengers, typing, etc) that are flexible & enable you to juggle class & work well.   The pay is mostly on monthly basis, though not much from as little as $20. This kinds of jobs are mostly reserved for needy students.
  • Note: Gambling is not a job & never will be! We strongly discourage gambling of any kind. Get a job, get a life! Never despise humble beginnings. It has the best lessons life can offer. Get quick rich schemes such as the just collapsed public-likes, lead to nowhere.

  • If you’ve got a good presence on social media or perhaps you even have a blog or website, you can start bringing in money immediately by promoting all sorts of companies, products, services and offers online.

7.Sell your notes and Articles to Sponsors/students

  • If you don’t mind sharing your notes with other students it’s a great way to generate a little extra cash. There are sites out there that you can upload your notes to, along with your price, and then when another student downloads them you get paid.

8.Competitions

  • Entering competitions of course comes with no guarantees, but there is a growing community of so-called ‘compers’ in the  consistently making up to 5million Tshs a year through all sorts of competitions.( Participate in Competitions Like ESSAY WRITING, RESEARCH COMPETITIONS,  MAWAZO CHALLENGES and many more)
  • There.Types of competitions available to enter range from simple registration forms and Facebook page liking to answering questions correctly over the phone to being a TV game show contestant. Imagine you made it onto Deal or No Deal instead of just watching it!

9.Sell Your Photos

  • If you think you’ve got a good shot and a little creativity, try uploading your photographs for free to stock websites. A good starting point is Fotolia or istockphoto.
  • Make more money selling photo subjects that have fewer search results but you feel would have some demand. It might be a good idea to test them out in print first yourself.

10.Rent out your body

  • According to our recent survey( www.msesetz.com), 7% of students use their body in some way to make a buck.
  • If you are comfortable taking off your kit then why not try life modelling. Sit there in the buff while budding artists capture your every curve (or pokey bits) in frightening detail! Try RAM, a website especially designed for these kind of jobs.
  • You could also get involved in clinical drug trials, but be sure you fully appreciate any risks attached.
